Sir Clyde Jones is the lead
saxophone player in Jazmine. He plays alto and
tenor saxophones and flute. Sir Clyde majored
in Music in undergraduate school. He graduated
in 1970 from Arkansas Agricultural,
Mechanical, and Normal College (AM &N, now
the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff or
UAPB). An accomplished teacher, Sir Clyde
taught band to K-12 students for a brief
period in the 70s. He is a self-proclaimed
patriot, having served in the United States
Marine Corp.
Sir Clyde has performed with such musical giants such as Kirk Whalum, The Manhattans, Vanessa Bell-Armstrong, Shaun Pace, Rhodes, Darrell Coley, and Restless Heart of the 70s, to name a few. Additionally, Sir Clyde has performed with many local musicians, especially Memphis’ jazz greats and at many churches in Memphis, Tennessee. With 3 CD projects to his credit, Sir Clyde now takes his place among local jazz recording artists. His pride and joy are two lovely daughters, Kimberly Patryce and Kirbie Pené. He recently retired from a career in the United States Postal Service, where he gave more than 30 years of service.
